Meet Felicia

The person behind the care.

Heart to Heart wasn't built by a committee. It was built by someone who understands what your family is going through.

Felicia, founder of Heart to Heart

When I first moved to Costa Rica, I came on my own, far from the family I had always relied on, and set about building a new life from the ground up. My two children were born here in the years that followed. I understood, in a very personal way, what it feels like to start over — to create a sense of home from nothing.

Then I met a client who became so much more than that word suggests. My children saw him as their grandfather, and he embraced them the way grandfathers do. Somewhere in that friendship, I learned something I have carried into every year of this work since.

"Care isn't a task you complete. It's a relationship you build."

I have come to believe that if we are fortunate enough to grow old, we live through two remarkable seasons of vulnerability — our first years, and our last. Both deserve patience. Both deserve dignity. Both deserve to be surrounded by people who see us, not just our needs.

Retirement was never meant to be the end of the story. It's another season — one that so many of our clients crossed an ocean to enjoy. Needing a little help should never mean giving up independence, dignity, purpose, or joy. It should simply mean having someone in your corner who helps you keep all of it.

So when I think about why Heart to Heart exists, it isn't complicated. We don't replace independence. We protect it. We show up so that mornings on the terrace stay mornings on the terrace, so that visits from grandchildren stay visits from grandchildren, so that the life someone came here to build keeps being lived, not just maintained.

Because the best chapters of life deserve to be fully lived.

With gratitude,
Felicia
